Mission Statement
It is the ardent desire of the honorable women of Tau Theta Pi to form and maintain a genuine sisterhood that exemplifies moral excellence, strength, versatility, and open-mindedness. As an organization rooted in strength through diversity, it is our goal to unify women of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We hope to accomplish this goal by means of promoting academic achievement, active involvement in the community, and the forging of the tightly knit bond between sisters. It is also our hope to foster personal growth by making lasting impressions in our community, at school, within our organization and within ourselves, ultimately enriching the college experience.

University of California, Irvine: Alpha Chapter History

The Alpha Chapter of the University of California, Irvine (est. 2001) is the first expansion chapter of Tau Theta Pi. Originating from the University of Southern California (est. 1998), the Founding Chapter was determined to branch the ideals that represent Tau Theta Pi towards a new chapter. With cultivation, the Alpha Chapter pursued the desire to nurture the unified goal of building an organization exceeding expectations of those that prevailed. The Founding Mothers consisting of Keyk Capati, Christine Carandang, Shirley Chiang, Jane Cuaresma, Marifi Dinoso, Nina Hamamura, Cathy Lee, Wynnette Marquez, Abegail Panopio, Lizette Raymundo, April Rivera, Kristine Serrano, Jina Siy, Kim Tadina, Shari Yee and Janine Yoshida, came together with the sole determination to form a unique sorority on campus that would emphasize diversity, individuality, and ingenuity. The Sisters of Tau Theta Pi aim to sustain the visions of unity, humanity, and excellence outlined by the Nine Vital Virtues that embody the true heart of sisterhood.

Tau Theta Pi was founded upon Five Pillars:

Our pillars below are not listed in a specific order, they are listed simply in alphabetical order.

We do not believe one is more important than the other; they all are of equal importance to us.

We strive to fulfill our pillars every quarter and uphold the vision set forth by our Founding Mothers.

Academics: We are here for education first. We would never ask you to put Tau Theta Pi before your studies. We encourage each

other to excel in class by hosting study hours, academic workshops, and awarding all who have achieved academic GREATNESS!

Fundraising: Being in a sorority doesn't have to be expensive! We host as many fundraisers as possible to fund our operations so our members don't have to. We would never reject someone because of their financial issues and you shouldn't let financial issues stop you from doing something you really want. We fundraise for everyone and everything!

Philanthropy: Tau Theta Pi believes strongly in giving back to the community. We do not believe in tying ourselves to one cause or purpose. We strive to help as many causes, foundations, and charities as possible.

Sisterhood: Tau Theta Pi is a multicultural sisterhood. We welcome all women from any race, religion, culture, or orientation. There is no single "type" of woman that embodies Tau Theta Pi. We learn from each other and keep an open mind when exploring new things outside our comfort zone. Through new adventures, we grow to become women of character and strength while building an everlasting sisterhood bond between us.

Social: Networking and establishing connections can be an essential part of building your future. We realize the importance of this and honor this pillar by holding social events with other fraternities and sororities as well as hosting various alumnae events.
